RE: Link Placement Inquiry on www.ralphmag.org/GT/cocaine.html

Hi,

I'm Valerie Elden, and I'm promoting a website about drug and alcohol treatment. I have been searching the Internet for sites we think would be just right for our campaign, and your site has caught our attention. Having said that, I'd like to inquire if you're open to the idea of an ad placement on this page.

Please let me know your thoughts on how this could work for you, or if you already have ad rates in mind. We'll do our best to reach an agreement with you that would be fair and appropriate for the both of us.

--- Valerie Elden

Hi, Valerie:

And thanks for your request for an "ad placement" on our review of The Anatomy of Addiction Sigmund Freud, William Halstead, And the Miracle Drug Cocaine by Howard Markel.

Unfortunately ours is a non-profit operation and we just don't do ads --- even for ourselves. We have no problem whatsoever if you want to point your readers to the review, and hope they don't mind that rather lusty drawing of Freud with Gloria Swanson, or the whopper, about his writing "one of the great novels of the 19th Century, The Interpretation of Dreams." (Others refer to it as a scientific paper or some such. Forget it. It's as good as that other bleak novel of 19th Century life, Das Kapital.) Or even the slightly smarmy poem,

There was a man with a hernia
Who said to his doctor "Goldern-ya,
When cutting my middle,
Be sure you don't fiddle
With matters that do not concern-ya."
