Long Way Back
To the River Kwai

HELLO:

RE: Loet Velsman

I just started reading his book "Return to the Bridge over the River Kwai" and discovered that on one of the photos in the book it looks like the middle man in the photo of the three prisoners it could be my father. If it is at all possible I would like to contact Loet Velsman by e-mail or otherwise and check this out with him. Do you have his e-mail address and if so perhaps you could check with him if it would be OK for me to contact him? I would really appreciate that.

Thanks

Note: My father worked on that same infamous railroad and survived until after the war, but alas, he passed away in 1957 from a fatal heart attack. His name was Anthonij Jurgens. I have been to Kanchanaburi myself a couple of times and have located a picture of my father in a display at a museum of the barracks where the prisoners were kept, which was managed by Thai Buddhist monks.

--- Thanks,
Jacobus Jurgens

Hi, Jacobus,

And thanks for your fascinating letter.

As always the key to these connections involves getting in touch with Arcade Publishing. They are an imprint of Skyhorse, and you can reach them at:

Skyhorse Publishing, Inc.
307 West 36th Street, 11th Floor
New York, NY 10018

What you could do is address a letter %Arcade to

Loet Velsman
Author of "Long Way Back to the River Kwai."

The other thing you could do is to buy a copy of the book from ABE, and see if you can find any clues there.

Good luck.
