Dear Mr. Amantea,
I didn't have the nerve to google any reviews of my book, Skin Deep, until this year. I was afraid that everyone in the universe would think it sucked, big time. We could blame the cocaine (no one in their right minds would give me the kind of advance I got from my publisher and wonder why I bought a '69 Roadrunner and all the drugs I could ingest) or my new, (post-jail, post-rehab, clean for five years) normal life, in which I teach English at a small community college in the middle of an Indian reservation in the middle of nowhere, Wyoming.
I fell a little bit in love with you, I think, after reading what you wrote about me and my writing, and I just wanted to tell you thanks.
