RALPH:

I would very much like to receive the complete poem of "Taffy was a Welshman" .  We know the first stanza but are lost after that.  Any help you can give us would be greatly appreciated.

Taffy was a Welshman,
Taffy was a thief.
Taffy came to my house
And stole a leg of beef.
I went to Taffy's house,
Taffy was in bed.
I picked up the leg of beef
And hit him on the head.

Taffy was a Welshman,
Taffy was a thief.
Taffy came to my house
And stole a piece of beef;
I went to Taffy's house,
Taffy wasn't home;
Taffy came to my house
And stole a marrow bone.

I went to Taffy's house,
Taffy was not in;
Taffy came to my house
And stole a rolling-pin.
I went to Taffy's house;
Taffy was in bed;
I took up a poker
And flung it at his head.

Taffy was a Welshman,
Taffy was a thief,
Taffy came to my house
And stole a piece of beef;
I went to Taffy's house,
Taffy wasn't in;
I jumped upon his Sunday hat,
And poked it with a pin.

Taffy was a Welshman,
Taffy was a sham,
Taffy came to my house
And stole a leg of lamb;
I went to Taffy's house,
Taffy was away;
I stuffed his socks with sawdust
And filled his shoes with clay.

Taffy was a Welshman,
Taffy was a cheat,
Taffy came to my house
And stole a piece of meat;
I went to Taffy's house,
Taffy was not there;
I hung his coat and trousers
To roast before a fire.

Traditionally sung on the 1st of March, St David's Day, on the Welsh borders and other parts of England.

Dear Lolita:

What a pleasant surprise!!! Our sincere thanks for your reply. My wife and I have been trying to find the rest of this rhyme for a very long time. We remember it from our childhood and we are both now in our 80's. You have really made our day !!!

I have only been "computer literate" for just over one year but this response from you has made the effort and some frustration in learning how to enjoy a new system of communication all worthwhile. Our very best wishes to you and your staff.

Sir:

I am trying to contact Eddie Fisher. I was in the Air Force, in and out of Korea, from 1951-1954 and I recall a time when I was in Korea in 1952 as best I can recall and Mr. Fisher was there with a "USO SHOW" (him and five back up musicians).

We sat outside on the ground, it was chilly, his stage was a flat bed truck. He came on sang four or five songs, we would not let him leave, so he said as long you guys can sit there, my band can play, my voice holds out, we will stay.

We had a beautiful time with sing alongs, etc. Broke up around midnight.

So when ever I hear things about Mr. Fisher, this is what I recall about the man.

Can you imagine a present day entertainer at the stage of their career that he was at the time, doing what he did?

I am a disabeled Vet, have a need to let me Fisher know I remember can you help with a phone number or E mail address?

Thanking you for your time,
